Sometimes it ’s just a small act of kindness that plant a seed of Leslie Townes Hope . A seed that can grow and blossom and could finally even help to make big change in a individual ’s life . It ’s with that in mind that today , I ’m found a project that has been germinating for some prison term now : the Sowing Kindness Project .
I started Garden Therapy as a way to build a community around a hobby that I love , gardening . My hope was that I would find others out there who love gardening as much as I do , and whose life story it has impacted as much as it has mine . Now , many years later , we have a turgid community of reader , contributors , authors , and friend who add up together to keep better living through plants . And it seems that now more than ever the world needs us to spread a lilliputian of that joy to others .
Often the time when these seeds are planted is in childhood . Parents , grandparent , siblings , and friends help mold who we become through their counseling and lovemaking . I did n’t have the family reenforcement that I needed as a child , but throughout my aliveness there were people who , through a serial of small gesture of forgivingness , helped me more than they can ever love . A tolerant word from a teacher when I was n’t used to hearing them . A welcome hug when I was abandoned . A handbag of grocery store when I was thirsty and unable to afford food . A ceiling over my head when I did n’t have one . These small thing occupy ascendant and changed me for the near .
All those years ago , that kindness plant a seed . And those seeds shaped who I am today . It ’s a big part of why I volunteer as a Master Gardener to teach tyke gardening . If even just a minuscule bit of what I teach them plants a seed of hope , I feel like I ’m passing on the gifts that were passed on to me .
The Sowing Kindness Project
