Highlights from a British Columbia garden
Today ’s picture issue forth from Sharon Vickers of Surrey , British Columbia , Canada . Her garden is such a marvelously diverse raiment of beautiful plant so packed with color that we ’re going to expend two days in it ! savor part 1 today , and look for part 2 tomorrow .
An Asiatic lily ( Lillium , Asiatic group , maybe ‘ Whistler ’ , Zones 5–9 ) . loan-blend lilies in the Asiatic group have the widest , most various coloration range of the on-key lilies , and they bloom extravagantly . Their only fault is that they lack the scent some other lily boast . But really , who can complain with flush that look like this ?
Another Asiatic lily . I love those grim markings on the creamy petals . This may be ‘ Patricia ’s Pride ’ or a similar salmagundi . There are so many varieties of Asiatic lily that it can be difficult to keep them straight .

This planting of lilies emphasizes varieties in the Oriental radical , which blow a copious , sinewy fragrance . The whitened is‘Casa Blanca’,and it is combine with three different pink Oriental lily : ‘ Mona Lisa ’ , ‘ toy Time ’ , and‘Stargazer’ . The Oriental lily group has a more limited color range , mostly whites and pinks , but its unforgettable odor more than spend a penny up for it .
shut - up of the classic Oriental lily ‘ Star Gazer ’ .
Incredible lilies is not all this garden has to put up . This bed is inch with bright white New Guineaimpatiens(Impatiens hawkeri , Zones 10–12 or as annual ) , which are more disease resistive tha

n steady impatiens ( Impatiens walleriana , zona 10–12 or as annuals ) . In the back towers a flower - laden yellow backer ’s trumpet ( Brugmansia‘Charles Grimaldi’,Zones 10–11 ) .
A view of the front garden , evince the bright white edging of New Guinea impatiens throughout .
Another view of the front garden . Notice the pink lilies fuse with and tower over the other flora .

Annabell hydrangea ( Hydrangea arborescens‘Annabelle ’ , Zones 3–9 ) .
