In a Vase on Monday. Summer Snowflakes

By coincidence I see that Cathy who hosts the meme , In a Vase on Monday , atRamblinginthegardenhas used snowbird in her vase today . Cathy has used the delightful little Spring snowflakes : Leucojum vernumwhich   bizarrely   seem to get into bloom later than the Summer ones : Leucojum aestivumwhich   I have used .

Cathy and I agree that the small Spring ones are prettier in every style than the tall Summer ones . For a start their flowers are bigger in equivalence with the root and leaves . Their flowers are determine like the old fashioned Tiffany lamp . They have light-green tips to their flower . you’re able to also get a delightful one with yellow tips to the prime which is calledLeucojum vernumvar . ‘ carpathicum ’ . There is    also a twin - headed one calledLeucojum vagneri . These little ones are slow to spread in my garden . The tall ones though are everywhere . I do n’t know whether a previous gardener was peculiarly fond of them or whether they sow around a cracking raft . If you’re able to not tell the difference between Anemone quinquefolia and flake then it is useful to remember that in flake all the six segment of the blossom are the same length . In Anemone quinquefolia you have three little inner segment and three little out unity .

I show some littleLeucojum vernumin my recent Garden Bloggers ’ Bloom Day post . Here is a photo I take last class of another clustering which is   not out yet . I mean the darkEuphorbiaand the fern set them off nicely . Now look at the plant ofLeucojum aestivumand you will see that it does n’t have the same spell .

Thanks toCathyfor host the meme and do go and see her endearing placement and see what everyone else has found to put in a Vase on Monday .

I grow the Leucojum aestivum in my white garden and mine rosiness profusely and make quite a sight … .I have never catch the ones Cathy is using . I love the Leucojum aestivum in your vase Chloris .

They are lovely ! And the vase bring in the arrangement ! I see that you used some of the foliation , too – that looks great !

The improbable one do work out well in a vase even if they look a little leggy in the landscape . Thanks for the word of the difference between snowflake and Anemone quinquefolia . While nothing with “ snow ” in the name is potential to grow here , at least I can acknowledge the difference should I endure into them elsewhere .

A case of less is more Chloris – a round-eyed but most effective vase 🙂
