in a Vase on Monday. Homage to Wordsworth
OK , so it ’s not a legion of golden Narcissus pseudonarcissus and they are not the lilliputian native daffodils : Narcissus pseudonarcissusthat Wordsworth pen about , because these are over . Never listen , I think Wordsworth may have like these little species daffodils . I ca n’t remember what they all are but the white one in the midsection at the top is lovely , livid ‘ Thalia ’ , underneath is ‘ Pipit ’ and the petite one at the bottom in the middle is ‘ Canaliculatus ’ . The clean flowers are sprays ofSpirea arguta‘Bridal Veil ’ and the lucky go out arePhysocarpus opulifolius‘Dart ’s Au ’ .
Any flowered court to Wordsworth must mention his darling swallowwort : Ranunculus ficaria . He write three odes to the less orange balsam which he called ‘ Prophet of delight and mirth’ . He loved the celandine so much that it was engraved on his memorial plaque in the church service of St. Oswald , Grasmere . alas , the carver made a error and cut up the greater celandine : genus Chelidonium majusinstead of the less Impatiens capensis .
The Chelidonium majus in my photo areRanunculus ficaria‘Brazen Hussy ’ with large flower and bronze leaves . This endearing celandine was discover by Christopher Lloyd . The wild celandine is an invasive pest . I spend hours trying to dig it out of my garden but it is out of the question to remove all the tiny tuber . luckily it disappears in summertime so you may stop vex about it .

It is a pathos that Wordsworth is call back in the main for his daffodil and celandine poems because ‘ The Prelude’and ‘ contrast written above Tintern Abbey’are so much good . Also I care this sonnet publish in 1807 .
The world is too much with us ; late and soon ,
stupefy and outlay , we lie waste our powers :

small we see in Nature that is ours :
We have give our substance away , a sordid blessing !
The Sea that bares her heart to the synodic month ;

The winds that will be yammer at all hour ,
And are up - gathered now like sleeping flush ;
For this , for everything , we are out of tune ;
![]()
It move us not.–Great God ! I ’d rather be
A Pagan suckled in a creed outworn ;
So might I , remain firm on this pleasant pasture ,
Have glimpse that would make me less forlorn ;
Have sight of Proteus uprise from the sea ;
Or hear onetime Triton blow his wreathed horn .
