In a Vase on Monday. Christmas Cheer.

The mild weather this December has meant that our garden wait as if spring has arrived .   The birds are singing and   wood anemone , hellebores and early   daffodils are blossom off merrily . How lovely to be capable to find deal of color to fetch into the house for a Christmas arrangement . I used rosemary , winter jasmine and holly which has obligingly make loads of berries this year . normally , these have been eaten by Christmas , but this year there is so much else to eat , that the birds have’t even disoblige much with them , or with the apples which I depart lying around for athirst blackbirds . The daintyPrunus subhirtella‘Autumnalis ’ is a picture at the second , as there has been no frost to bungle it . The lovely disconsolate iris isIris lazica , which is a relation ofIris unguicularisIt comes from   the Black Sea coast . It likes a fly-by-night position . rather of hiding its blooming under lots of foliation like Iris unguicularis , it show them off attractively .

I cut a   few stems of gloriously fragrantLonicera x purpusii‘Winter beauty ’ which is always full of blooms in winter . I just picked one hellebore as they flag so in water . I desire it will stay perky until after this even , as   this system is to cheer up the mesa when acquaintance hail round .

I sneaked in a minute ofViburnum tinus , as it is quite utile for wintertime arrangements , but as I am always allege how smelly it is and how I dislike it , we wo n’t mill about over this one . Did you notice   the yellowRudbeckia niitida ?   Crazy is n’t it ? Is it very early or very late ?   And for something else whole out of time of year , how about the pink scabious in the next photograph , with the   pretty trumpet flowers of the silver leafedConvolvulus cneorum ?

Convolvulus cneorum

I picked a little fleck ofCoronilla valentinasubsp.glauca‘Citrina ’ with its pretty lemon yellow pea shaped flowers . They are finely sweet . So there we have it , a little Christmas ‘ tussie - mussie ’ as Vita Sackville West used to   call a posy . My vase this week is dedicated to all my adorable blogging friends who have enriched my life for two years . give thanks you for sharing your endearing gardens with me and entertaining me with such flowered delights and humour . I have never met most of you and most likely never will , but you all feel like honest-to-god booster . My very best wishes and   a   happy Christmas to all of you .

Such a colourful vase is a overnice surprisal for December ! give thanks you for your nice opinion and wishes , Chloris ! Have a great Christmas !

I ’ve heard that your weather condition , like that in the northeast US , has been remarkably lovesome but I was still rather shocked to see Iris in your vase , not to speak of the Rudbeckia ! Both your vase and your testimonial are lovely . Merry Christmas Chloris !
