What better metre than Halloween is there to be creative in the garden ? I decided to take a knife thrust at my very first miniature garden figure to celebrate the nervous eve with skeleton , tombstones , and ( of trend ) a miniature pumpkin patch !
I ’ve been wanting to essay mini horticulture ever since I read Janit Calvo ’s awesome bookGardening in Miniature . I am lucky enough to call Janit a friend , so after she wrote this fantastic tutorial onhow to make a miniature garden patiofor Garden Therapy , she also send me aHalloween mini garden kitcontaining systema skeletale , Cucurbita pepo , gravestone , crushed rock , and even straw !
Here is how my miniature Halloween garden turned out .

From afar , it seems to be a very tame planter with some evergreen plant and groundcover in a decorative terracotta pot .
Now look a bit closer …
And closer …

Boo !
Who let the skeletons out ? Who ! Who - who - who !
The skeletons are escaping from their graves up on a hill dwarf by a blue champion juniper and a small cedar Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree .

Just down the Alfred Hawthorne , there is a dry river bed that fall apart the pumpkin patch made fromAjuga“Black Scallop ” and miniature autumn pumpkin from the kit .
Beyond that , there is a grim starPratia pedunculata‘County Park ’ ground cover and a cobwebbySempervivum arachnoideum .
All of the plants in this miniature garden will go along to grow and fill in the space and I can replace the pumpkin vine , tombstones , and frame with other seasonal planting when Halloween is over . It should be noted , however , that none of the plants I used are truly miniature plants .

I hope to make a proper miniature garden in the future tense with miniature plants that will make the Miniature Gardening Guru gallant ! Check out how a professional really does up a mini garden for Halloween here :
