An amazing display in a small area
I am Rich from Philadelphia . I am partake in some images from the gardens of our 1812 Union - dash townhouse . There is a front yard , which is located in the centre of a 10 - plus block job district , and a “ backyard , ” most of which runs parallel to our place . I have strive to make a series ofgarden roomsthat best compeer thelight conditionsof each area . The in public viewable front yard includes a bloodless - and - silver - themed perennialshade gardenas well as a vivacious bed of rotatingannuals . The backyard include a formal court with a triangular - shapedboxwoodborder , a perennial border , and a kitchen garden . Multiplewater featuresand a diversity of shrubs , trees , and other plantings and accents contribute to a serene scene for birds , pollinators , and humans .
lily-white and violet tulip mix with emergingshade perennialsin front of a Belgian fence ofEnglish ivy(Hedera spiral , Zones 5–9 ) .
The white-hot and purple tulip give fashion to a silver medal - and - blank - theme tint garden that includes goatsbeard(Aruncusdioicus , Zones 3–8),bleeding heart(Dicentra spectabilis , Zones 2–7 ) , brunnera(Brunneramacrophylla , Zones 3–8),lambs ’ ears(Stachys byzantina , Zones 4–8 ) , geraniums(Geranium‘Rozanne ’ , zone 5–8 ) , Japanese forest grass(Hakonechloamacra , Zones 5–9 ) , andhostas(Hostahybrids , Zones 3–9 ) .

Once the tulips , daffodils , and hyacinths fade , I transition the other side of the front yard to tropicals , which thrive in Philadelphia ’s blistering , humid summer .
A highlight of the backyard courtyard is the triangularboxwood molding , seen here with Greigiitulips .
A lamentation dove has a potable at the courtyardfountain .

Standard lilacs(Syringapubescens , Zones 4–7 ) , deciduous azalea(Rhododendronhybrid ) , and boxwood(Buxussp . ) topiaries in the courtyard garden .
Right out of doors of our kitchen are fourraised bedsthat are laid out in front of the garden shed . The main vegetables I develop aretomatoes , peppers , andeggplants , and the main herb I mature arebasil , parsley , rosemary , chives , andthyme . I have also growncarrots , Raphanus sativus , lettuce , Swiss chard , pole and bush beans , garlic , andoregano .
To the left of the raised beds is a full - sun flower bed that includesCoreopsis , liatris(Liatrisspicata , Zones 3–9 ) , yarrow(Achilleamillifolium , Zones 3–9),Russian sage(Perovskia atriplicifolia , Zones 5–9 ) , daylilies(Hemerocallishybrids , Zones 4–9),Echinacea , and garden phlox(Phloxdavidii , Zones 3–8 ) . Four ‘ Degroot ’s Spire ’ arborvitae(Thujaoccidentalis‘Degroot ’s Spire ’ , Zones 3–8 ) divide the court from the lift bottom .
