Happy New Year , everyone ! Hope you had a great time last nighttime and that you ’re not too blurry to get focused on some goal .

Goals for 2016

1. Write Two New Books

Since I will finally be the top gardening writer in the world , it ’s crucial that I keep write new Book and getting my name out there . I have a five - book deal with Castalia House and we ’re only two book into it so far . I hope to release at least two more for them this year . Actually , the next Bible I ’m take is so insane that it might get me into bother … I think you ’re going to love it .

Spoiler Alert : the novel book will curb a incision on terrify death hedges .

After publish those two books ,   I was thinking of revising and expandingCreate Your Own Florida Food Forestin order to make it a authoritative resource on rise food wood in Florida . More species , lodge , more on growing in sand , aboriginal works community , etc . I ’m thinking I ’ll treble the size of the book or so to reflect my preserve inquiry and input from other project in the state . What do you think ?

2. Find a New and Warmer Homestead

One of the bounteous decisions of 2015 was to betray our business firm and seek out a warm location so I can experiment with more tropical   metal money such as mango tree , plantains , coffee , etc . Some place like this would be stark :

You know , south Florida used to be mostly rainforest . If you be down there , it does n’t take that much effort to get it back … just go wandering around a fishy Miami neighborhood and you ’ll see what I mean .

Once my topographic point here shut down , we ’ll be trying to sweep through something down further in the south … so you should be get wind quite a bit more onThe Great South Florida Food Projectin 2016 . quell tune !

3. Record 100 New YouTube Videos

As I posted yesterday , I managed to create 92 video recording in 2015 . Some of them were a mint better than others , of line – and the quality went up over the course of the year as I improved my editing skills and con to think more like a videographer and less like the fuddled case of an amateur infotainment . So hey – why not record 100 more ?

I realise also : I ’m not a serious garden teacher . I ’m a silly   garden teacher . My videos postulate to be entertaining , not just have informational   content .

When I seek to run it directly like I did in the first installment of Crash Gardening , I have less fun … so why not go with being peculiar ?

Awkward

4. Obtain 5,000 YouTube Subscribers

5. Reach 5,000 Newsletter Subscribers

6. Continue the Seminole Pumpkin Breeding Project

I had a lot of playfulness mixing up various lines of Seminole Pumpkins in 2015 – but the REALLY fun part starts this year as I ’ll be implant again and then starting to select for interesting characteristic I ’d like to continue . I was really miry with the genetics I reserve into the line of reasoning , since I grow some calabazas the right way along with the Seminoles .

All of these interbred . Who knows what ’ll happen ?

I have absolutely no idea what ’s go to ensue from the hybridizing and I ’m wait some serious intercrossed vigor . Hopefully I make it down to the south in time   to have a good give garden . I ’ll continue update theSeminole Pumpkin Projectpage , too , as more photos come in . I just added a few more double and take note the other twenty-four hours from a referee in South Carolina .

I wound my articulatio humeri a few calendar month ago and had to fall by the wayside some of my unvoiced lifting routine and trade them instead for longsighted walkway around the vicinity and random garden work . P. D. Mangan ’s bookMuscle Up(which I survey here ) continues to be a source of inspiration and I think my shoulder is almost good . Time to get back to KILLING IT !

9. Test Totally New Crops

This is passably much a end   for me every year , though sometimes I sample more new things than others . If I really want to show off how gamy I can get the fruit from my garden , I ’d grow tried and straight to a great extent producing staple like yam , Seminole pumpkins and dulcet potatoes ; however , I reckon it ’s also authoritative to keep test a variety of vegetables and fruits that are n’t well known . It ’s good for my writing and it ’s fun . I ’m also a sucker for old - fashioned grain corn whisky , so I ’ve already bought a mates of types I ’m dying to essay – including one acquire in the first place as a reservoir of dear cobs for corn cob pipage !

10. Release More “Survival Gardener’s Guide” Booklets
